W wieku 59 lat zmarł w Sydney 28 marca 2012 roku John Hospodaryk, nauczyciel, pisarz, piosenkarz, kompozytor, uczestnik Festiwali Kościuszkowskich poczynając od historycznego koncertu na szczycie Mt Kosciuszko w lutym 2007 r. Absolwent Uniwersytetu Sydnejskiego (pedagogika, Arts, literatura). Karierę nauczyciela zaczynał w High School na Maroubra, potem przez lata uczył w Evens High School i St Clair High School. Ma w dorobku kilka książek historycznych i podręczników napisanych wspólnie z Bobem Darlingtonem (bratem Dave'a, dyrektora National Parks). Osierocił 13-letnią córkę Wiktorię (tancerkę Lajkonika), żonę Annę, pozostawił matkę Marię, która wywodziła się z tych samych stron, co Kościuszko.

JOHN HOSPODARYK's profile
Singing and accompanying himself on guitar and banjo, John Hospodaryk has for over four decades collected various traditions, chiefly from Australia and America: blues, rags, shanties, bush ballads, old-timey, bluegrass, country and western and rock and roll. All these styles have fed his song-writing. You can get something of that versatility on his 2007 album Railway’s Coming Through. John has performed at various music festivals and cabarets as well as clubs and pubs. In 2001 he won the MUA song-writing award, and in February 2007 participated in the first organised concert ever staged on TOP of Mt Kosciuszko.
John pozostanie nam w pamięci w wielu piosenkach i kompozycjach poświęconych Kościuszce, Strzeleckiemu, Adynie i Górach Śnieżnych. Za dwa tygodnie nasz pierwszy festiwal bez Johna. Fizycznie bez Johna, ale usłyszymy Jego głos i tę piękną piosenkę o Górze Kościuszki: " My mountain Kosciuszko is your mountain too".
