A short speech by Dave Darlington (NPWS Regional Manager Snowy Mountains Region) delivered at Moonbah on Sat. 14th of April 2012. On behalf of NPWS acknowledge and welcome Consul General, Dr Peter Phelps MP, Traditional Owners of the Monaro, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. NPWS is proud to have been an ongoing supporter of this and previous events. These events would not be possible without the enthusiasm and organisation skills of Ernestyna and Ursula and other members of the organising committee – well done again!
Like many here today I especially wish to acknowledge the contributions which John Hospodaryk made to previous events. When I first met John several years ago, after he preformed on the mountains and in Jindabyne I went up to him and introduced myself as Bob’s brother. These encounters make you realise what a small world we live in. John and my brother jointly authored many high school history text books over the last 10 years. Bob was honoured to deliver a moving eulogy at John’s funeral 2 weeks ago.
John is part of the mountains and certainly a key contributor to the strong relationship that has developed between the Polish community, the mountains and the NPWS.
Thank you and enjoy the events today and tomorrow.
