2nd Australian International Chopin Piano Competition
14-21 September, ANU School of Music

The 2nd Australian International Chopin Piano Competition will be held during Canberra's spring festival, Floriade - from the 15-21 September 2014 at the ANU School of Music. The Artistic Director is Maciej Pawela.

The Competition will include an opening recital by Wojciech Switala on the School's recently acquired 1847 Pleyel, the piano of choice by Chopin. The competition will be in three stages will competitors playing a repertoire of Chopin and other composers. The final (stage 3) will include one of Chopin's piano concertos arranged by him for a small ensemble (not orchestra).

Additional events will include a Chopin Festival of lectures, film screenings and a special event.

The Friends of Chopin Australia - many who are Polish - strongly appeals to the Polish Australian community to consider this Competition as their flagship event which not only defines their love of Poland through Fryderyk Chopin but contributes to the rich tapestry of multicultural Australia.
