Mound & Mt Kosciuszko Festival 2008 – COMPETITION RESULTS

FKPP Mound and Mt Kosciuszko Festival Competitions - Category of photography for entrants under 25

This competition was called “The Young and the Talented”. The jury comprised local photographer Ray Killen from Berridale, Tom Koprowski, Ryszard Bator, Urszula Lang (Artistic Director of Festival) and Dr Ernestyna Skurjat-Kozek (President of Cultural Foundation of Puls Polonii) from Sydney.

The jury decided to give the following awards:

1. First prize of $600 to Shannon Mackay from Cooma for the photo of a young violinist and statue of Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki in Banjo Paterson Park entitled “Violinist and Statue”

2. Second Prize of $400 to Lachlan Schofield from Cooma for the photo of young footballers “Cooma Colts on a Foggy Monaro Morning”

3. Third Prize of $200 to Lukasz Swiatek from Sydney for the photo “Lajkonik’s Historic Dance on Mt Kosciuszko”

Special Commendations and books “Kosciusko. The Mountain in History” by Alan E.J. Andrews are given to:

1. Sebastian Swaczyński from Sydney, for the photo “Girl from Cambodia”

2. Patrycja Krymowa from Konin, Poland, for the photo “Self Potrait in the Mirror”

3. Grzegorz Kocunik from Sydney, for the photo “A Pair of Dancers from Syrenka”

4. Magdalena Kopydłowska from Sydney, for the photo of an Aboriginal boy “Little Reveller”.

Congratulations to all entrants!

The prize-winning photos will be displayed in an Exhibition in Jindabyne and Cooma. They are also published in the Commemorative Festival Booklet "Mountain Whispers – Anthology”, a copy of which will be given to both prize-winners and jurors.

Attention: We wish to announce a new photographic competition for both young people and adults for the most interesting and enjoyable photographs taken at this year’s Mound and Mt Kosciuszko Festival 2008! Results will be announced during the 2009 Festival. Details of this new competition will be announced in the media shortly following the Festival!
