Music/Song writing Composition Category for entrants over 25

The jurors of the music competition, comprising Robert Wolf (musician, composer), John Hospodaryk (singer, musician, composer and history teacher), Urszula Lang (Artistic Director of Festival) and Ernestyna-Skurjat-Kozek (President of the Cultural Foundation) decided to award the following prizes:

1. First Prize of $1,000 for the song about Tadeusz Kosciuszko "We are part of you, our Leader”, music by Lech Makowiecki, lyrics by Tadeusz Buraczewski, from Gdynia, Poland

2. Second Prize of $550 for the song about Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki, "Edmund, the Adventurer”, lyrics by Regina Sobik, from Poland, music and production by Asia Lunarzewska, from Newcastle

3. Third Prize of $300 for the song about the young love of Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki “List do Adyny”, lyrics Marek Baterowicz, from Sydney, music and production by Asia Lunarzewska, from Newcastle

The following entries received Special Commendation:

1. Highly Commended Prize of $200 to Paul Dion, from Jindabyne, for his “Snowy Mountain Anthem” for which he wrote both lyrics and music. The Jury also decided to acknowledge this song about the immigrant workers of the Snowy Hydro Scheme by declaring it the Official Anthem of the Mound and Mt Kosciuszko Festival

2. Highly Commended Prize of $200 for Christian values expressed through the song "Stanislaw” about Stanislaw Blum, to which Paul Mackay of Cooma, composed both lyrics and music

3. Highly Commended Prize of $200 for the song “Letter to Adyna” by Jurek Scislowski, from Sydney

4. Commended Prize of $100 for the song “Journey of the Mind”, music and lyrics by Bunty Bisharah, of Jindabyne

Prize-winning entries will be published in the Commemorative Festival booklet “Mountain Whispers – Anthology”. Prize-winners and jurors will receive a complimentary copy of the Festival booklet.
