| This year, following the recent heritage listing of Mt Kosciuszko, the current organisational team of the community Festival in Jindabyne/Cooma, urges your sponsorship and support of the coming Festival on 17th, 18th and 19th April. This Festival is solely organised by a small volunteer group with only a small budget. This year, more than ever, we are struggling to pull the many aspects of the Festival together, due to promised funding not materialising. Our cause is that of ensuring that Australia's heritage contains some acknowledgement of a contribution by Poles, and that the Polish community is respected and consulted in terms of such matters as any change to the name of Australia's highest mountain, Kosciuszko.
An annual re-union/Festival of Poles from all around Australia in the Jindabyne and Cooma areas, has been one way for us to make our presence known as stakeholders in the area, and we have only just recently achieved invitations to community meetings on redevelopment, tourism, and cultural issues, consultations with the Aboriginal community etc. Through this process we have been able to raise such issues as the Conservation of the Strzelecki Statue, a proposal for a Strzelecki Museum, the potential relocation of the Kosciuszko Monument etc.
The Polish Internet newspaper Puls Polonii documents in detail all our efforts and achievements in terms of the above projects, as well as the Festival. Every bit of assistance and support will help to continue the work which we have commenced.
