W styczniowo-lutowym numerze pisma "Snowy River ECHO" ukazał się artykuł Carole Thomas pt. Movie Recreates the Discovery of Mount Kosciuszko". Oto, co w nim czytamy.
"Mt Kosciuszko - the Frozen Years" is a 'docudrama'producebdy Oscar
Kantor (Oski Pictures) which will
premiere at the Jindabyne Cinema
on Saturday 20th March, as part of
'K'Ozzie Fest 2010'.
The Festival (traditionally
organised by the Cultural Foundation
of Puls Polonii (FKPP), also
a sponsor of the movie) will be held
in March to coincide with the 170th
anniversary of the expedition and
naming of Mt Kosciuszko.
Australia's highest peak was
discovered in 1840 by Polish
explorer and scientist, Sir Paul
Edmund Strzelecki, the central
character of "Mt Kosciuszko - the
Frozen Years".
The movie is a creative mixture
of times past and present, and
retraces Strzelecki's steps when
in March 1840, accompanied by
James Macarthur, James Riley and
two Aboriginal guides,he reached
and named Mt Kosciuszko.
The part of Strzelecki is played
by Polish newcomer Jacek Hubala
and James Macarthur is played by
Slawek Kopczynski.
Movie trailer. Watch it. Zwiastun filmu Oskara Kantora. Premiera na festiwalu kościuszkowskim w Jindabyne 20 marca 2010
The present day scenes had
been shot during Kantor's winter
expedition in August 2009 which
took him from Geehi Valley to Mt
Kosciuszko. The film crew had to
cross the Swampy Plain River,
wade through snow via Moiras Flat
over Hannel's Spur, to finally reach
Mt Kosciuszko and Seaman's Hut,
where blizzard and snow storm kept them stranded
for two days. (Read full story in the
Septembe 2009 issue of the Snowy
River Echo).
The historic scenes were
shot just after Christmas 2009 at
Seaman's Hut and Mt Kosciuszko
during what was an unforgettable
four days for all the cast and crew.
The picturesque Moonbah River
was the scenery for the recreation
of the crossing of the Swampy Plain
River on horseback.
Oski Pictures also produced
'Knight in Shining Armour' - a
video clip of a beautiful love song
composed by Tasmanian artist Jeni
Wallwork - the story of a knight and
a maiden in love, who desperately
long to reunite (like Strzelecki and
Adyna did for forty years in the
ninetieth century, never to meet
again).'Adyna's song is performed
by a newcomer Polish singer Beata
Wald, and was shot on site at
Seaman's Hut.
The Producers are grateful to
NPWS for their continuing help and
cooperation.
A big 'Thank You' too to Neville
Barras from Thredbo Valley Horse
Riding, his assistant Christian
and his beautiful horse Zak; and
to the owners of the Wollondibby
property which was the scene for the crossing of the river.
