The Competitions
Three competitions have been announced in conjunction with the Festival

Photographic, poetry and song-writing competitions associated with themes about Kosciuszko, Strzelecki, the Snowy Mountain Hydro-Scheme and local Polish engineer Stanislaw Blum, will add depth and interest to the Festival and its associated Artistic Programme.
Prizes will be announced and awarded at the Festival and prizewinners encouraged to attend.

Competition no. 1
The Puls Polonii Cultural Foundation, in conjunction with the Polish Consulate in Sydney & The Kosciuszko National Park in Jindabyne are pleased to announce a new music & poetry competition for young people under 25, promoting the following topics:
    - General Tadeusz Kosciuszko and his significance for the Australian Heritage
    - Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki and his Legacy
    - Stanislaw Blum, Snowy Hydro engineer, and Benefactor of the Blum Foundation
    - Mt Kosciuszko and the Snowy Mountains
    - Migrant Workers of the Snowy Hydro Scheme

The competition entries can be submitted in English or Polish, or mixed. The following forms will be accepted: songs, prose or poetry, lyrics  or musical compositions inspired by, or relevant to, the subject matter listed above.

PRIZES
The following prizes will be awarded:
    - Ist prize for either a song or musical composition$1,000
    - 2nd prize$550
    - 3rd prize$300
    - Ist prize for poetry or lyrics to a song$800
    - 2nd prize$350
    - 3rd prize$100

Sponsors may also provide special awards or prizes, and should discuss their proposals with the organisers. Special information packages on the above subjects will be provided in the Polish-Australian internet newspaper Puls Polonii. Entries should be submitted by 30th January 2008. Competition results will be announced in March 2008. The Special Award Ceremony will be held at the “Mound and Mt Kosciuszko Festival 2008”, as part of a Special Concert highlighing the premier public performances of the winners.

The winner and the best texts will be published in Polish and Australian media. The organisers reserve the rights to publish and promote the material which is the purpose of the competition.
The make-up of the jury will be announced soon.

Competition no. 3 (for young photographers)
The Puls Polonii Cultural Foundation, in conjunction with Polish Consulate in Sydney & Kosciuszko National Park announce a new photographic competition for young people under 25, with the theme:"The Beautiful and the Talented." This competition is to promote talented young artists in the community, also those who have made an important contribution to the aims of the Kosciuszko project, through the medium of photographic images.

PRIZES
The following prizes will be awarded. 
    - Ist prize$600.00
    - 2nd prize$400.00
    - 3rd prize$100.00

Sponsors may also provide special awards or prizes, and should discuss their proposals with the organisers.Results will be published in March 2008. The best entries will be exhibited in A3 format as part of the Mound and Mt Kosciuszko Festival 2008, as well as published in the photogallery of Puls Polonii, and other media. The organizers reserve the rights to publish and promote the material which is the purpose of the competition. The make-up of the jury will be announced  soon.

Each entry is to have a maximum of 10 images, and each entry shall be judged individually.  Digital photos should be on a CD, with names of artists photographed, and the name, the age and the address of the photographer.Entries should be submitted by 30th January 2008.
