VOICES> Teresa Rayner received her earliest musical training in
her native Poland and attracted attention as a child with
the beauty of her lyric soprano voice. Her initial successes in
Australia were in two G&S productions at the original Canberra
High School singing the title role in Iolanthe and Elsie in The
Yeoman of the Guard.
Whilst overseas for ten years, most of them in Canada, she
specialised in oratorio and recital work. On her return she
was a Shell Aria finalist in the 1980’s which deepened her
interest in opera. Since then she has sung a diverse range of
roles from Monteverdi’s Poppea to Adele in Johann Strauss’
Die Fledermaus and Adina in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore. She
also created the role of Marion in the world premier of Colin
Brumby’s opera Summer Carol. Her favourite role was that
of the Countess in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. In addition
to her work in opera she has also maintained her interest in
recital work.
More recently Theresa’s long time interest in teaching
has expanded through her studio Bright Voices where she
specialises in the development and nurture of young voices.
Tomasz Tomczonek was born in
1976 in Białystok, Poland. He received
a Masters degree in Education (Cultural
Studies) at the University of Białystok
in 2002. During his student years he
was a member of Białystok University
Choir, performing at international
music festivals in Poland, England,
Switzerland and Germany. After
graduation he commenced work in his
chosen profession, subsequently joining
the Białystok Philharmonic Opera Choir
(now Podlasie Philharmonia and Opera)
before moving to Ireland in 2006. He
was a member of various church choirs in
Poland and Ireland and since moving to
Canberra in 2009 has been singing with

third performance with soprano Theresa
Rayner.
