Oski Pictures and Australian National University School of Music is proud to present Australia's newest major biennial piano competition. The Australian International Chopin Piano Competition will offer competitors and audience a musical event that highlights individual approach to music.
The Competition aims to encourage young performers to follow the 19th century tradition of romantic playing, which reflects the lyrical and poetic interpretive aesthetics of Chopin's own time.
The Australian International Chopin Piano Competition was held in Canberra from 1-8 May 2011 and included a Symposium highlighting performance-related topics associated with the music of Chopin and the 19th century.
The competition is being supported by the Embassy of The Republic of Poland in Canberra.
The music patron for the Australian International Chopin Piano Competition is Vladimir Ashkenazy.
