Jindabyne Hall Comes Alive with Piano Music
Snowy River Echo Magazine

Over 100 people including holiday makers and winter staff flocked to the Jindabyne Hall on Saturday July 2nd for a magic night of piano music, as part of the fundraising effort to purchase a grand piano for the Memorial Hall. The night was considered to be a triumph by all and a great tribute to organisers Antoinette Braeder and Carole Thomas, featuring music by Chopin wonderfully performed by accomplished Polish classical pianist Krzysztof Malek, the Jazz styling’s of Wayne Kelly accompanied by Canberra vocalist Gaye Reid and of course the amazing Jan Preston, self confessed ‘Queen of the Boogie-Woogie’. Acclaimed pianist Jan was lead singer for New Zealand band ‘Coup D'Etat’ when they released their hit debut single ‘No Music on My Radio’, back in 1980.

Raffle tickets and Piano keys were sold on the night, offering a wonderful opportunity for music lovers to support the fundraising effort. The evening was attended by Snowy River Shire Mayor John Cahill and his wife Janneane, Councillors Neen Pendergast, Kris Laird and Bill Smits.

Carole and Antoinette would like to thank the wonderful performers for travelling from Sydney and Canberra to support the cause and everyone who came on the night, in addition to the raffle sponsors: Aeropelican, Snowprint Bookshop, Green Machine Flight Adventure, Perisher, Charlottes Pass, Lake Crackenback Resort, Mitre 10 Jindabyne, Jindabyne Sports, Wildbrumby Distillery and Gordon Griffin; and in-kind sponsors: Snowy River Shire Council, Woolworths Jindabyne, Koscom, Snowy Mountains Television and Hazel Davies.

Of course, a big thank you must go to the wonderful people who helped on the day, from setting up the hall to selling tickets and serving drinks; including Jodi and ‘the girls’, the wonderful ladies of the CWA Jindabyne Branch, Neil Brown from Valley Vista Coffee and many more.
