In 1940-41 over 1 million Polish citizens of
Catholic, Jewish, Ukrainian and Belorussian
ethnicities from eastern Poland were killed,
repressed or deported to prisons, forced labour
camps (GULAGS) and “special settlements” in
Siberia, Kazakhstan and Soviet Asia.
The Polish Ex-Servicemen’s Association in
Australia (SPK Circle 2), Kresy-Siberia (Australia)
and Consulate-General of the Republic of Poland
present a panel discussion with Siberian exile
survivors and their descendants to discuss their
roles as “Custodians of Memory” of these events.
Survivors and their families are invited to bring
photographs and documents, which will be
scanned and preserved in the Kresy-Siberia
Virtual Museum www.Kresy-Siberia.org.
Survivors are also sought to be interviewed to
record and preserve their histories and
experiences for future generations.
