"Podhale" presented new dances
Invitation to New Year's zabawa. Henry Iglinski (photos)
On Sunday, 27th November 2011, Podhale held its Annual End of Year luncheon and concert, with over 250 people in attendance. The hall and tables were decorated in Christmas spirit and our tasty menu included a lovely warm lunch, dessert, cake as well as tea and coffee.

Our Special guest was the President of the Polish Association Cabramatta Pani Krystyna Cyron who was presented with flowers and a gift from Poland for the 50 Year Anniversary of the White Eagle Hall.

Brother Peter Strohmeyer from Berrima attended and led the prayer and blessing of the food. (Our Parish priest Fr Krzysztof is unwell and was unable to attend ... our many prayers and best wishes go out to him.)

Podhale’s Junior, Middle and Senior groups performed a total of ten dances throughout the event, including Tańce Śląskie by the Junior Group and Tańce Przeworskie by the Middle Group, whilst the Senior Group performances included Tańce Biłgorajskie and Tańce Spiskie.

Each member was presented with an award to show our appreciation of their hard work during the year. Santa’s visit came right at the end to many excited and happy children.

Podhale would like to acknowledge our deep appreciation for all our many supporters who regularly attend our functions. An important aim of our functions is to bring the community together and to promote Polish culture.

Podhale would like to say a sincere thank you to every individual and entity that has contributed to Podhale throughout the year.

We extend a sincere and gracious thank you to the Polish Association in Cabramatta, The Polish Consulate in Sydney, The SPK Foundation, The Blum Foundation and Steric Pty Ltd (makers of Staminade) for their support and generosity.

Congratulations

The Podhale Committee and Dancers would like to take this opportunity to congratulate one of our talented Artistic Directors, Basia Gadd, on completion of her 4 year Diploma in Polish Folk Dance Instruction and Choreography from Rzeszow, Poland, in July of this year. For her final exam, Basia choreographed “Tańce Rzeszowskie ‘Zabawa w Izbie’”. Her choreographic composition was selected to be performed at the opening of the 15th International Folk Dance Festival in Rzeszow 2011, which was held at the Rzeszowski Rynek, to a crowd numbering in the 1000’s and televised on TV Polonia.

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year

With Christmas just around the corner, we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year.

Z okazji nadchodzących świąt Bożego Narodzenia, składamy wszystkim najserdeczniejsze życzenia oraz szczęśliwego nowego roku 2011.

We’d also like to invite everyone to Podhale’s New Years Eve Zabawa at the White Eagle Hall. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children and include nibblies, individual cold meat & salad plates, fruit, cake, tea and coffee as well as champagne at midnight. Live Band ‘Ela and Mirek’ will play a variety of music to suit all ages. The fire works display will stream live over large screen televisions and there will be attractions and games for all throughout the night. The venue is air conditioned, with a children’s retreat and plenty of onsite parking.
