On Sunday 11th December 2011 Kujawy held their end of year function. This year it was decided that it should be in the form of a Christmas Party for all dancing members along with their families and friends. Sunday morning was a glorious sunny day but unfortunately as the afternoon came along so did the rain, but this didn’t dampen the mood for all who were present. The atmosphere in the Bankstown Polish Club was festive and very informal.
Kujawy – Sydney dance members from the Little, Middle and Senior Groups performed a special dance celebrating Christmas and then to everyone’s delighted there was a visit by Santa Claus but instead of the traditional sleigh drawn by reindeer he came on a beautiful Harley Davidson motor bike all the way into the main auditorium. The squeals of children and clapping of all adults was deafening. It was a sight to see jolly Santa on his shinny Harley. A chair was provided for him in from of his bike by the president of the group Jolanta Zurawska. Santa called out each of the dancing members by name and presented them with a beautiful trophy and goodie bag. Santa then called upon all children who were present and not members of Kujawy to come to him and proceeded to give each child a lolly bag. The excitement could be felt by one and all.
With the official gift giving completed all the children did another special dance for Santa Claus before he sat on his bike and rode off to his next port of call….who knows where. In the meantime the Kujawy committee had a prepared a wonderful BBQ for all; and everyone went to line up for the wonderful BBQ Śląskie kiełbaski (from Narel Smallgoods) and onion on a roll. Tea, coffee and plenty of cakes was for desert. The MC for the day was Marek Wojnicz.
We would like to thank our wonderful teachers and choreographers Wiesia and Marek Wojnicz for all their hard work throughout the year.
This brings an end to a wonderful and eventful year for Kujawy – Sydney. We are all looking forward to 2012; PolArt in Perth, our annual picnic and Snowy Trip along with all our Zabawa’s and concerts.
Kujawy senior group commence practice on Tuesday 31st January 2012 at 7pm at the Bankstown Polish Club and the little and Middle Groups will commence on Saturday 4th February 2012 at 1pm.
