The death toll from a head-on collision between two trains in southern Poland has reached 16 with dozens more injured.
The high speed crash at Szczekociny, near Krakow, happened with such force that one of the trains ended up on top of the other.
Carriages buckled and toppled onto their sides.
Witnesses in a nearby town said it sounded like a bomb had gone off.
One train was en route to Krakow from the capital Warsaw, while the other was travelling to the capital from the south-eastern city of Przemysl.
More than 400 emergency workers were on site helping the victims, and trying to recover bodies.
