| PP: Zupełnym przypadkiem natknęłam się wczoraj na artykuł w Brisbane Times, gdzie z radością przeczytałam, że piwo "Kosciuszko Pale Ale" zdobyło tytuł Grand Champion Beer. Po chwili się zasmuciłam, bo spojrzałam na datę. Okazało się, że konkurs rozegrał się prawie rok temu. Ale humor mi się poprawił, gdy sobie uświadomiłam, że nasz "Kosciuszko" nadal króluje na australijskim rynku i będzie królował do następnych zawodów, które oby wygrał. Cieszymy się z sukcesu nie tylko dlatego, że piwo ma polską nazwę. Cieszymy się głównie dlatego, że "Kosciuszko Brewery" jest od kilku lat sponsorem festiwali kosciuszkowskich.
"It's named after Australia's tallest mountain and now Lion Nathan's Kosciuszko Pale Ale has climbed to the pinnacle of the country's brewing royalty, topping last year's Queensland brewed champion craft. But the local loss will be consumers' gain, according to master brewer Ian Chant, who led a team of brew reviewers in the latest round of an annual contest designed to determine the best beer in the country.
The Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show Beer Competition, held at the RNA in Brisbane, named the recipe developed by Chuck Hahn and brewed in Jindabyne as the Grand Champion Beer after five hours of tasting. Lion Nathan's chief brewer Bill Taylor couldn't be happier. Mr Taylor said that the beer was in development for about six months before it hit the shelves, coming in at the luxury end of the craft market. “It's a quality beer that combines drinkability with real complexity and flavour,” he said. “It has a really intense aroma, a lot of savoury taste characters, and is thirst quenching.”
But while Mr Chant described the beer as “top of its class”, he said the victory over 54 other beers was not easily won. Burleigh Brewing's HEF, last year's top recipe, and Blue Sky Brewery's FNQ Lager also took out champion trophies, claiming best Queensland beer and best lager respectively.
“The number of gold medals awarded just goes to show the quality of beers on the market today, and the consistency of judging really impressed me,” Mr Chant said. “We were splitting hairs in the pale ale category and it took us three attempts to finally award a champion."
