In the case of wet weather, a decision will be made on the event day at 8 am as to the outcome of the event. There will be an opportunity to find out about fencing, try bouts and meet our young fencing champions. CHAMPIONS READ! incorporates both the annual Blacktown City ‘Family SportsFest’ and the National Year of Reading celebrations. The combined event will still include the usual sport focussed activities and market stalls however will integrate with a variety of literacy focussed workshops. The combined event will focus ‘Healthy Mind, Healthy Body’ approach to living and encourage individuals of all ages to participate in a more active lifestyle.

The event will kick-off at 12.00 pm and give the community the opportunity to experience sporting and literacy focussed interactive displays (e.g. pass the ball, group reading, healthy lifestyle workshops, tea leaf reading) and register for a variety of sports with representatives from Blacktown’s sporting associations. There will also be a mascot race featuring some of your favourite sports mascots and lots of great giveaways and prizes! Sports Stars and Authors will be part of the celebrations including Australian Rugby International and Author Peter FitzSimons. SportsFest flyer is attached.

Entry coupons are also available from local newspapers and will be at the event. You could win a great range of sporting and literacy prize packs.
