You are invited to support an important community initiative, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Bali bombings and, more generally, to promote a harmonious Australia. The inaugural Harmony Walk - on Sunday, 21 October 2012 at 2 pm - aims to bring together Australians from different ethnic, national and religious backgrounds in a powerful statement of support for fairness and harmony. The Harmony Walk is a project of The Moving Forward Together Association Inc which is committed to creating better understanding between all sections of the community. The Patron of the Harmony Walk is the Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO.
It is supported by the NSW Government, Opposition and Greens, the NSW Community Relations Commission, NSW Ethnic Communities Council, Together for Humanity, the Australian Bahai Community, and the SBS Foundation.
Participants will walk from Trenerry Reserve, Coogee Beach, before assembling at the Coogee Beach Plaza for music, entertainment and some practical advice from community leaders about creating a more cohesive society.
The walk is only one kilometre, so people of all ages and abilities can participate.
Please circulate this invitation to friends, colleagues and interested members of your community, and help to make this first Harmony Walk a great success.
Visit our website www.harmonywalk.org.au for more information, and to register for the event.
Kind regards, Ernie Friedlander OAM Chair, Organising Committee
