Organisers of "K'Ozzie Fest 2013 Dream Lights" have been invited recently to National Parks & Wildlife Service in Jindabyne to discuss logistics of Centenary Mass to be celebrated by Bishop Julian Porteous on the Summit of Mt Kosciuszko on 23rd February next year. As we were advised, "the potential for environmental and social impacts to non-involved park users aside we could not fit more than 200 people on the summit". We need to cherish and protect the area around the summit. This is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve which has 20 plants species found nowhere else in the world. So we have agreed that the event has to be by invitations only. About a hundred of the faithful will be on the list. Stone paved area has been selected for the Mass, and a special cordoned area will allow tourists to access the steps leading up to the cairn. The following annnouncement is to be published in the media.
"An event will be held on the Summit of Mt Kosciuszko on Saturday 23rd February 2013 around noon. Visitors can expect to experience some crowding. Those wishing to be part of the event are encouraged to view a screening of the event at Jindabyne's Bowling Club (next to Banjo Paterson Park) the following day on Sunday at 10 am. The screening, at the Bowling Club's bistro, can be repeated on demand between 11 am and 4 pm."
