On Tuesday 7 May, leading community services provider Australian Multicultural Community Services Inc. took pride in welcoming the Governor of Victoria, his Excellency the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC and Mrs Elizabeth Chernov , to their headquarters in Maidstone. The Governor accompanied the AMCS staff and board members, clients, volunteers and departmental representatives for morning tea to jointly celebrate AMCS’ 30th anniversary.
“I know that your organisation provides many different types of essential services including those aimed at the elderly still living at home, English language and computer courses, a community visitors scheme to those in aged care facilities, a friendly visiting program to connect! assist with social integration and the list goes on! All of these activities, aimed at supporting and assisting those from multicultural backgrounds, are all important in their own right for the particular needs they serve. (...) To all the staff here today, can I congratulate you on the wonderful work you do and encourage you to keep it up – you really do offer a great service not only to those you help directly but to the Victorian community as a whole”, he said.
“As a professional who has dedicated almost 20 years to AMCS, I find it particularly satisfying how we adapt to the changing community needs and how we adapt to the ever chang ing community service environment.” Elizabeth Drozd, Chief Executive Officer, AMCS said.
