Described as Polish Virtuoso (by the Kosciuszko Foundation), Krystian Tkaczewski has pursued his splendid piano career in both the US and Europe. He had his triumphal Carnegie Hall debut in April 2007. Anthony Aibel, critic of the New York Concert Review, wrote that Tkaczewski was elegant, showed in-depth knowledge, played with passion and demonstrated powerhouse technique. His reading of Rachmaninov and of Prokofiev was excellent and Szymanowski was exquisitely shaped, with lovely shadings and contrasts of dynamics. Krystian Tkaczewski, born in 1980 in Tarnów, Poland, started his musical education at the Paderewski Music School in Tarnów in the class of J. Iwaneczko. He studied at the Chopin College in Warsaw (1995-2000) in the studios of G. Weiss and Dr. Paweł Skrzypek. In 2000 Krystian became a student of Olga Rusina at the Academy of Music in Wrocław. Completing his program of studies a year ahead of time, he graduated in 2004 with a Master of Arts degree. In 2007 Krystian received a Graduate Professional Diploma at the University of Hartford Hartt School, where he is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in the studio of Oxana Yablonskaya.

He has participated in various festivals, such as: the Chopin Festival in Marienbad, Chopin Festival in Gaming, Austria, Chopin Festival in Antonin, Poland, Festival of Polish Pianists in Słupsk, Chopin Festival in Busko-Zdrój, Tydzien Talentów in Tarnów, Musical Floraries in Warsaw, Chopin Forum in Wrocław, Inter-Fest Bitola in Macedonia, a concert series at the Paderewski House and recitals at the Chopin House in Żelazowa Wola. In June 2006 Krystian played with the Polish Radio Orchestra conducted by L. Borowicz at a special concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Society of Polish Musicians at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
Krystian has given concerts in 20 countries on four continents, in some of the most prestigious concert halls (Carnegie Hall, Salle Peletier, Salla Villanueva, Teatro Nacional in Panama, Hongtail Hall in Xiamen, Syrian Opera House, Al Hussein Cultural Center in Amman, etc.). He has performed with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Polish National Radio Orchestra, Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Leopoldinum Orchestra, Connecticut Virtuosi, the Tarnów Chamber Orchestra and the Wrocław Chamber Orchestra.
Krystian Tkaczewski is frequently invited as a juror in prestigious piano competitions around the world, such as the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, Golden Key Festival in New Jersey, Solhi Al Wadi Piano Competition in Damascus, Rosario Marciano Piano Competition in Vienna, MTNA, Chopin Piano Competition in Budapest (2012), Chopin Piano Competition in Beijing (2012), Osaka International Music Competition (2012), American Liszt Piano Competition in Los Angeles (2012), Russian Music Piano Competition (2013), Rachmaninov Piano Competition in Moscow (2013), Francaix Piano Competition (2013), Rachmaninov Piano Competition in Novogrod (2013) and Karamanov Piano Competition (2013).
Krystian Tkaczewski is a recipient of several scholarships and awards, including the Chopin scholarship in 1995, Wrocław Music Academy Academic Scholarship for 2001-2004, the Polish Minister of Culture Scholarship in 2002,2005, 2007 (Młoda Polska) the City of Tarnów Scholarship for 2001-2002, Musical Club of Hartford 's E. B. Storrs Scholarship in 2005, Scholarship of Polish Students Organization in New York and the Polish-Slavic Federal Credit Union Scholarship.
Krystian Tkaczewski is an active member of the Society of Polish Musical Artist SPAM since 2004. He is also a founder, artistic director and president of the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, CT. |
