Eastern European CALD Project Officer, Full-Time 38 hrs a week. Fixed term contract until 30th June 2015. Polish-Australian Welfare Association is seeking to employ a person to join our team to deliver a new project under an Aged Care Service Improvement and Healthy Ageing Grants Fund (ACSIHAG). This is a full -time (5 days) position focusing on undertaking a range of community
development and education activities targeting CALD communities and aged care
providers in Metropolitan Sydney, Rural and Regional NSW.
The position has a strong focus on increasing access to a broad range of aged care
and related services which are culturally responsive to the needs of the Eastern
European elderly community and their families / carers.
Emphasis will be on working with relevant communities and aged care services
throughout NSW to: improve communities’ access to aged care services promote LLLB aged care reform, including enablement strategies, healthy
ageing and Consumer Directed Care concepts support aged care providers in the provision of culturally and linguistically
responsive care support providers to develop information in formats appropriate to communities’
needs.
This position requires strong networking skills and will require close co-operation with
DOHA, PICAC NSW and all relevant service providers with responsibilities around
responding to the needs of Australia’s and NSW’s aged population. The project has
state-wide focus and will require travel to regional NSW.
The position provides limited one-to-one assistance in the form of information
provision about aged care services and programs.
SALARY: In accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry
Award 2010 under transitional provisions, depending on qualifications and experience.
SELECTION CRITERIA ESSENTIAL: A qualification in social work, community development or other relevant qualification and experience with working with older people of CALD background and their families / carers; Understanding of the Eastern European culture is essential; Knowledge of the LLLBI reform, aged care and related service systems and service providers; Ability to negotiate with service providers to ensure the provision of information and services in culturally and linguistically appropriate formats; Experience in improving access to services for consumers, advocacy, policy development and policy change; Strong networking skills and experience Excellent communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal; Organisational and time management skills; Current driver’s license; Team work and enthusiasm; Excellent computer and report writing skills; Willingness to travel to regional NSW
DESIRABLE Written and verbal knowledge of the Eastern European language Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training and /or experience in delivery of training to small groups CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is a fixed term contact which will end on 30th June 2015.
