Many people at work this year started asking me about the Polish Festival at Darling Harbour, because they had heard about it “somewhere”. One person who “passed through”, said that they enjoyed the atmosphere but that everything happening on stage should be in English, if we are indeed to attract the Australian public, and share our Polish culture with Australians. I tend to agree. Another person said that they enjoyed the String Ensemble from Camden “L’Estro Armonico” and all the dancing groups which are energetic and colourful.
I think this present Polish Festival Committee has been amazing in the way that they accommodate all the artists – fair and no fuss. Thanks so much to them. They are such nice people and they do a great job. I know that the youth in Lajkonik look forward to this performance venue every year, and are happy to perform.
If ever there is a surplus, and it can be afforded, I would like to ask that a proper dance surface be laid as it is very hard to dance on concrete, and the concrete creates incredible wear and tear on our dancing boots and shoes.
Please allow me to share some of my photos with you – Lajkonik (3 photos on top) and Wawel (two photos below).
