Bents Basin is a deep natural waterhole and picnic area found in Sydney's southwest, on the Nepean River, 12km South of Wallacia and 25km south of Penrith.
It's part of the Bents Basin State Conservation Area and the perfect spot to escape from the hustle and bustle of Sydney for a day, go for a bushwalk, have a swim, and then spark up the BBQ or open a picnic hamper.
It should take no more than an hour to drive to Bents Basin from Sydney, which is only 60km away. To do so make your way to Wallacia and then head south on Greendale Road or Bents Basin Road.
If you take Greendale road keep a lookout for signs to Bents Basin, turning left onto Wolstenhome Ave.
When you enter the Conservation Area you will have to pay an entry fee of a few dollars.
The Basin gates are open from 9am to 7.00pm during summer and 4.30pm during winter.
There is a kiosk open on weekends selling food and snacks, BBQs are available, an education centre with various displays, along with public toilets.
