National Forum for Polish Clubs - June 2014
Leszek Wikarjusz, Maciej Fibrych

It is with great pleasure that we write to you to inform you of a new project initiated by the Polish Community Council of Australia Inc. in cooperation with Quo Vadis Conferences Australia Inc. It should come as no surprise that over the last few years, more and more of our Polish Clubs are facing bigger and more complex challenges including financial. This was discussed at great length at the recent Quo Vadis Conference held in Sydney in October 2013, where the importance of a thriving and connected Polish community was discussed.

The idea to work together within the Polish community is not uncommon; however we want to investigate the possibility of taking this idea to the next level by forming a National Forum for Polish Clubs to address various issues including economic, marketing and legislative. This would then be followed by the possibility of forming a Polish Clubs Co-Op to explore the concept of group buying of produce and alcohol, resulting in decreased costs and streamlined processes

To this end, it is proposed that the National Forum for Polish Clubs be run in conjunction with this years’ Non Electoral AGM of the Polish Community Council of Australia Inc. on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of June 2014, in Canberra. To make this Forum a success, and to achieve our unified goals of a successful, connected and thriving Polish community, we need as many of the Polish Clubs in Australia to participate and as such, formally invite you or your representative to attend. We welcome your valued thoughts, ideas and input.

The proposed agenda will aim to cover key issues faced by Polish Clubs currently and into the future. We also would love to provide each participant an opportunity to network and learn from each other as a collective.

The proposed agenda is as follows:

Saturday 7th June (2pm – 6pm)
Introduction
Moderated and Structured Forum to discuss the following:
- Current situation of Polish Clubs in Australia
- Challenges facing our Polish Clubs in Australia, and what we can do about them
- What’s happening in other Polish Communities around the world
- Future of Clubs in Australia
- Discuss options for a ‘Purchasing Co-op’

Sunday 8th June 9 (12pm – 5pm)
- How to attract new clients to the clubs
- Utilising your premises more effectively
- Managing your board and attracting new board members.
- Bringing a younger demographic into your clubs
- Developing a brand and cohesive identity for your club
- Action plan moving forward

We look forward to seeing you in Canberra and look very much forward to your participation in the inaugural Australian National Forum for Polish Clubs in 2014. We welcome the input of any ideas you may have, any feedback, and discussing key issues of importance to you.

Kind regards
