| Piano show by Konrad Dorecki. Saturday 30th August 2014 at 6,30 pm, Polish Seventh Day Adventist Church, 100 James St. Dandenong. Instead of tickets – donations welcome.
Konrad will improvise his music on the spot. The first and second part of the program will open with improvised pieces based on Adventist Church religious songs. There will be a variety of original pieces in Classical, Romantic and Impressionist styles as well as compositions inspired by Polish and other countries’ musical traditions. We will hear two contrasting piano concertos in which the solo piano will also represent a full symphony orchestra. Konrad will be talking about his music in English and Polish. At the conclusion of the evening, light refreshments will be served. Instead of tickets, we will be asking the audience to offer donations to support Konrad in his future artistic endeavours. Also, a selection of Konrad’s CDs will be available for purchase.
Konrad is a Commerce graduate from Deakin University. Music has been his passion from youngest years. He started learning the piano at the age of 6. At age of 10 he gained a music scholarship at Mentone Grammar School. After completing high school, Konrad continued to study music privately while studying for the Commerce degree.
From a young age Konrad has been interested in composition. He has a unique talent for piano improvisation combined with a virtuosic pianistic technique. He has taken part in various events both in the wider community and for the Polish organisations. He performed at the Melbourne Recital Centre in 2010, where two CDs of his improvised music were recorded.
In 2012 Konrad recorded a CD for Schimmel and was named a “Schimmel Artist”. German firm Schimmel is one of the world’s leading concert grand piano makers. Out to the 9 Australian “Schimmel Artists”, Konrad is the only one who has received this recognition for his own composition.
