a whole community gathers you know that things are
going to be electric.For nearly 60,000 Victorian’s of Polish Ancestry the phrase “it’s just a Polish thing” is all too familiar. Whether it is Polish words, gestures, customs and traditions it is
far easier to explain it with a shrug of the shoulders and say “it’s just a Polish thing”. On Sunday 15 November 2015, Poles from around Australia gather for their
annual Festival at Federation Square. In its eleventh year, everyone can experience in
person just what this “Polish thing” is all about.
It’s about the colour and the boundless energy of folk dances. So don’t be surprised to see and even experience spontaneous outbreaks of dance amongst the crowd, because that’s just another Polish thing to do. It’s about the distinctive and absolutely Polish Cuisine. There is a lot to try and
savour at the Festival with names that you will have the greatest difficulty getting your tongue around but you taste buds will love you forever.It’s about satisfying the shopping bug, with an abundance of merchandise on offer
including books, clothes, fashion accessories and Christmas decorations, with a unique Polish flavour. Perhaps most enticing is the range of elegant amber jewellery, crafted in Poland and renowned worldwide for its beautiful honey colour
and calming properties.
