History is made! Polish Dance Ensembles Unite!
Jolanta Żurawski

10 Year Project in the Making – History is Made! Polish Dance Ensembles Unite! 13 Folkloric Dance Ensembles in Australia and New Zealand [Kujawy, Kukuleczka, Lajkonik, Lowicz, Lublin, Oberek, Obertas, Podhale, Polonez, Polonus, Syrenka, Tatry and Wisla], are thrilled to announce that after a period of dialogue over many years, we have joined forces as part of a new Organisation called Polish Visual and Performing Arts Australia and New Zealand, trading as PolArt Incorporated!

The main aims of the Organisation are to promote the Polish Arts here in Australia and NZ, and to support and facilitate collaboration amongst our large family of Ensembles, collectively involving over 1000 dancers and more than 2,000 supporting parents. The Organisation will be a new and influential member of the Polish Community Council of Australia, ensuring that the tri-Annual PolArt Festival continues to flourish and grow, and supports the cultural development and artistic efforts of young Poles in both Australia and New Zealand.

PolArt Incorporated will be an Independent Body overseeing the organisation and financing of each new PolArt Festival in a different host city, but also supporting it with a body of accumulated knowledge and experience gained over 40 years. The Organisation will own the intellectual property rights and legacy associated with PolArt, which will be fully archived in subsequent years so that the great initiative of the Polish Women’s Association of Australia and in particular Mrs Zofia Krupska, who initiated the first PolArt in 1975, will never be lost but will continue to be celebrated in years to come.

The first President of PolArt to serve for the inaugural 3-year term is Paul Zajac, administrator of the Polish Ensemble Tatry in Adelaide. He is supported by an appointed Board of 8 experienced community leaders [choreographers and executive committee members] from the other member Ensembles.

One of our first steps will be to develop a website to document and inform the Polish Community of the activities and work of PolArt Incorporated, and to ensure a high level of communication and interaction occurs. We are really excited about this development , and hope that you will join us on our journey of making Polish Visual and Performing Arts in Australia and New Zealand Incorporated trading as PolArt Inc. the heart throb of the Polish Community in Australia and New Zealand.
