The Department of Education is closing the Saturday School of Community Languages (SSCL ) Randwick Centre in the Eastern Suburbs by the end of this school term due to the take over of the current site by Randwick Public School.
It is devastating news for the Polish community of the Eastern Suburbs, but especially for the students, who will be unable to travel to the SSCL Centre in Ashfield on their own and therefore will be forced to discontinue their Polish language studies. Many parents, who have children in the Polish community school – The Polish School of Sydney and in the SSCL Randwick Centre, will be forced to compromise one child's Polish language education in order to allow for the other to continue.
An ideal location for the SSCL Randwick Centre would be Randwick Girls’ High School, which is located approximately 800 metres from the current site, close to public transport and it is in the heart of the Eastern Suburbs.
Our children deserve to have access to free public education and the right to learn Polish language in a convenient location, close to their home in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
We need the assistance of the Polish community to sign the on-line petition as soon as possible with as many people as possible.
