Redakcja Pulsu Polonii otrzymała tekst listu dziękczynnego "Thank you to SPK Service to late Mieczyslaw Malecki" napisanego przez Piotra Małeckiego, a wystosowanego do J. Tkaczyka, prezesa Zarządu Krajowego SPK w Australii. "Dear Mr Tkaczyk.I wish to write and draw to your attention and express my gratitude for the service which the NSW representative of the SPK (Mr Mieczyslaw Swat) rendered at the funeral of my late father (Mieczyslaw Malecki) which took place last week in Sydney. Mr Swat attended and stood to attention during the entire funeral service for my late father. He was not asked to do so, however he offered to pay silent tribute freely and with goodwill. The funeral service went for over an hour and the chapel was extremely cold.
However notwithstanding this, Mr Swat did not waver at any time. I was particularly touched that he stood to attention and presented the standard. This honour bestowed on my late father would have been greatly appreciated by him and was a comfort to my mother. This gesture also made me immensely proud of my Polish heritage.
I have personally witnessed Mr Swat providing this service, paying tribute to other fallen Polish comrades, on a number of occasions and wanted to ensure that this was given the recognition which it deserves.
Mr Swat is truly one of the last men standing of my father's generation. It is a tribute to his personal dedication and reflects well on the organisation of the SPK and to all Poles in Australia.
Kind regards Peter (Piotr) Malecki
