A classical masterpiece as you’ve never heard it before.
A cornerstone of classical chamber music, Death and the Maiden is a vividly expressive and dramatic work composed by Schubert in death’s shadow. A Romantic masterpiece, filled with anguish, yearning and gentle consolation, it tells the story of a young maiden who begs Death to pass her by. Balancing the emotive power of Schubert’s work, ORAVA QUARTET presents two sacred works from the Renaissance, reimagined for string quartet, from the most famous composer in 16th century Spain and William Byrd, along with a collaboration with JUNO award-winning violinist, Alexandre Da Costa, from the Quartet’s recent Canadian tour, in a Fantasie by Wagner.
Described as “the future of Australian chamber music”, ORAVA QUARTET’s stunning intensity and sound will make this a concert to remember.
