| The Polish Senate, in a resolution adopted by the upper house of parliament on Friday, expressed its
solidarity with the Australian people, who have been fighting catastrophic fires for months.
The Senate session was attended by the Australian Ambassador to Poland Lloyd Brodrick, to whom Senate
Speaker Tomasz Grodzki presented the resolution.
It was pointed out in the resolution that "the Senate of the Republic of Poland sends words of respect for all
those who are fighting fires, and providing shelter and assistance to those who have suffered as a result of the
fires."
"We appreciate the efforts of the fire-fighters, police and army, and thousands of volunteers, among
whom are many Australians of Polish descent and Poles living in Australia," read the resolution.
The resolution also noted that the Senate supported the declarations of assistance made by Prime Minister
Mateusz Morawiecki to the government of the Commonwealth of Australia, as well as the individual acts of
support by Polish citizens for the victims of this cataclysm.
The raging fires in Australia have claimed at least 28 lives, destroyed more than 2,000 homes and scorched
more than 10 million hectares of land since October. The conservation group WWF-Australia estimates 1.25
billion wild animals have died during the current fire emergency, and that many species of animals face
