Swiss Guard spokesman Lt. Urs Breitenmoser confirmed the resignations Sunday during comments made to Swiss news outlet Tribune de Geneva, explaining that the guards left their positions “on a voluntary basis.” Breitenmoser said another three guards have been temporarily suspended until they are “fully vaccinated.” After having initially delayed getting the experimental drugs, the guards have reportedly now taken their first dose and will be reinstated to their roles pending “full vaccination.”
