Hi, I am sending some photos from the opening of the newest Australiana mega-store in Warsaw's famous Arcadia complex. The Australian Ambassador, H. E. Ian Forsyth, launched the event with a lively speech about Australian cultural nuances and novelties on a Wednesday night (23rd of August 2006).
Here he is seen talking with the owner of the spectacular new store, Mr. Michal Gutt and co-promoter Mr. Mark Krawczynski.

Many personalities attended the event, including media presenters Alicja Resich-Modlinska of Polish television fame, Marek Tomalik (Polish-Australian adventurer and National Geographic journalist), Robert Dul (famous Polish anthropologist specialising in Australian culture) and Aneta Jazwinska (Polish artist who paints spectacular Australian landscapes following a long tour to Oz).
The store is the first of its kind in Warsaw which specialises in premium clothing items bearing a kangaroo logo and or which are of Australian origin. Among many original cultural items, such as boomerangs and didgeridoos (which are also on sale) there was also a mound of genuine "red earth" specially freighted in from Australia as part of the display.

The evening opened with a dramatic, musical performance on dodgeridoos to set the mood. Videos about the Australian outback and speeches by the Australian Ambassador and Mark Tomalik continued the colourful and easy-going theme of the night. Fine Australian wines were served to the guests throughout the evening.

"Kangaroo Club" launched its range of fine summer clothing for all sporting and outdoor occasions with a bright and cheerfull fashion parade inside the store. Next month the winter range will be showcased and everyone is looking forward to a lively year of new Australian styles for all seasons. As said one happy visitor: "Australia is the furthest point on the globe for us Poles, but every day it seems to be getting closer thru all the cultural and retail promotions taking place in Warsaw right now."
