Subject: Fw: Haverford College Acknowledges Printing Article, Is Very Apologetic

* * *

I spoke with the new director of communications at Haverford College this morning concerning David Langlieb's "Greenpoint" article which I found on the internet and which appeared to be in their Fall 2006 alumni magazine. I told him I was with PACIM and called because I wanted to verify the accuracy of what I found.

He acknowledged that, unfortunately, the article was genuine, it did appear in their magazine. He was very apologetic and deeply regretted the school ever having published it. He stated that the previous director had moved on and evidently had not had a review board for articles to be published under the Haverford College banner.

Also, he shared that, thus far, he had heard from many, many Polish American associations, newspaper reporters and alumni who were deeply offended by the article.

Evidently the writer attempted some poorly chosen images for his satire, suggested the communications director. He attributed it to the inexperience of the recent graduate but had no explanation of why the article was printed except to lay the blame to his predecessor.

I might add that the director called me back within five minutes after I left a message on his phone mail.

In closing, I wished him a good day. Joe Beben
