Christmas Cantata - 20th December
a gift for you and your friends
Dear Friends in Music

Arcangelo Corelli

The Sydney Consort invites you to their last concert in this 2006 year series.

Cantata Per Natale-Cinque Profeti by Alessandro Scarlatti and Per la Notte di Natale by Arcangelo Corelli.

For this special event, our string ensemble will be joined by five wonderful singers who will perform in a conversation between five Old Testament prophets about the birth of the Saviour – Daniel, Ezechiel, Isaiah, Abraham and Jeremiah.

In Australia, the Sydney Consort is the only ensemble that obtains the copy of this music (the score was lost for over 290 years) by buying the rights to perform, from the original manuscript with the Church permission to perform this Cantata. The chamber orchestra will also present Corelli’s Christmas Concerto Grosso on that evening.

So, dear friends in music, if you still don’t have an idea for a Christmas present for your family members or friends- bring them for this special concert and let’s celebrate the Christmas festivities at the recently partly restored and acoustically splendid St. Augustine’s Church in Balmain.

Wednesday, 20th December 2006 at 8.00pm at the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in BALMAIN, Eaton Street.
