Here I sit, at my desk, thinking - what could be wrong?
Why is it taking these people so long?
The trek for Kosciuszko has already begun
But our call for sponsors has delivered “just one”

Lajkonik is ready to dance and to sing,
The Windjammers ready to play “like the wind”
Hospodaryk and Kazan have ballads and songs
Which will sound from the Summit for ever so long

And Erna from Puls, well she’s toiled day and night
To make sure that plans and arrangements are right
Here the honour and pride of ALL Aussie Poles
Is top of the list as one of the goals!

And Tadeusz Kosciuszko, a great man we cherish
Will we stand by and let his memory perish?
Equality, democracy, and Free-Dom for all
The very same values that make Aussies stand tall,

And we, Polish-Aussies, we likewise stand proud
We’ve known other options, and solidly vowed
To keep our dear motherland Poland free
Wherever our home is, wherever we be.

So come on Polacy, and non-Polaks too
Join the Trek for Kosciuszko, its Aussie true-blue
With a rich Polish history that’s woven so well
Into this whole story which we wish to tell

So “hajda” Polacy, lead the way, spread the word!
And help us to make this tribute superb!
It’s a trek to Kosciuszko, for his memory and name,
We can do it, I know it, if we work for the same

And when, at the end of our trek to the peak,
With our hearts beating hard and our legs a bit weak,
We’ll rejoice in the journey we’ve made on this day
We’ll sing and we’ll dance and the music will play

To the north and the south, to the east and the west
To remember Kosciuszko, and to put him at rest
That all that he fought for, is still worth the fight
And that Poles in Australia will stand up for what’s right.
