Famous saxophonist Paul Dion will play with us on Mt Kosciuszko
Read about Snowy Anthem composed by him

It is our pleasure to announce far and wide that a renowned Australian musician & vocalist Paul Dion will perform on Mt Kosciuszko! Please, visit his website www.pauldion.com

And here is a reprint from Sydney Morning Herald (Dec. 1, 2006).

Australia's peak region, so to speak, has one thing that's a little different - its own song, believed to be a first. Snowy Anthem, which is already being sung in local school assemblies, will be launched with gusto tomorrow by a choir of 50 schoolchildren, 30 adults and 10 musicians from around the shire. It's a musical tribute by local musician Paul Dion, who composed and orchestrated the song as a musical montage of the unique geography, romantic history and multicultural success of the area (..)

The Snowy Anthem

Music & words by Paul Dion Copyright 02/06/2006

Verse 1
This place we call “The Snowies” sits high above the plains.
The rooftop of Australia, where majestic splendour reigns.
And blest with nature’s gifts sublime, the font of life therein.
Australia’s crowning jewel. A place that we call home.

CHORUS
One hundred thousand workers from thirty foreign lands,
Came to tame “The Snowies” and quench those arid plains.
One hundred thousand workers, all working side by side,
Came to tame “The Snowies”. And build Australia’s pride.

Verse 2 This place we call “The Snowies”, a wild and rough terrain,
Where once the highland stockmen roamed and Brumbies ran the range.
And when you ask Old Timers now, they’ll say it’s for the best,
But sad eyes tell of memories, that won’t lie down to rest.

CHORUS
One hundred thousand workers….etc.

Verse 3 This place we call “The Snowies”, so precious and so rare,
The mountain mist, the winter snow, the clear and crystal air
This special place “The Snowies”, entrusted to our care.
We’re the guardians of “The Snowies”, a place that we all share.
TAG:
We’re the guardians of the Snow — ies,
