I am writing a book partly about a Polish family - Waleria and Joe Janiak - who came to Brisbane, from Krakow via Germany, in about 1948. I am very keen to talk to someone who could describe to me what Krakow went through during the war and what it was like immediately afterwards - why so many people left. Are you able to put me in touch with such a person?
The couple parted shortly after arriving here and Waleria died in Sydney a few years ago. I wonder if by some chance you know the whereabouts of Joe who lost contact with his family.
I had planned to go to Krakow in June to trace the family's history but as I don't speak the language this would be very difficult.
