A special event is happening in Sydney soon. The 3.8 m high wooden Cross arrives. The Cross was entrusted to the young people of the world by Pope John Paul the 2nd in 1984 to be carried throughout the world as a symbol of God's love for humanity. In 2003 the Pope gave an icon of Jesus and Mary to accompany the Cross.
Young people will take turns to carry the WYD Cross & Icon across Australia from July 2007 -July 2008 and will visit capital cities,tiny villages, coastal and outback places - even your neighbourhood.
Sydney Archdiocese will host the Cross & Icon from 1st to 8th of July.
