Krzysztof Malek was born in the Polish city of Stalowa Wola. He graduated with the highest distinction for extraordinary artistic achievements from ‘The Special Talents Schools’, the Z. Brzewski State Music High School in Warsaw in the class of Professor Teresa Manasterska. In 2000 he became her student at the Fr. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where he studied until 2002.

He was then invited for full scholarship studies with the legendary Professor Victor Makarov at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney. He has also worked with such distinguished pianists-pedagogues as Victor Merzhanov (Moscow Conservatory), Oxana Yablonskaya (Juilliard School), Lee Kum-Sing (Vancouver Academy of Music), Alexey Orlovetzky (St. Petersburg Conservatory), Anatolii Kardashov (Odessa Conservatory), Christopher Elton (Royal Academy of Music, London), Rita Reichmann (Australian National Academy of Music, Melbourne) and many others.

His first performance dates back to 1990. In 1992 he received the First Prize at the National Competition for Young Pianists, which was soon followed by his debut with an orchestra. In 1997 he was a Prize-winner at the Paderewski Competition in Poland. In 1999 he received Second Prize at The Chopin International Competition in Vilnus and in 2001 he was awarded First Prize at The Bacewicz International Competition in Lodz.

Krzysztof Malek has given recitals, concerts with orchestras and chamber music performances in many cities in Poland. He is also known to the audiences in nearly twenty countries around the world, including USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Holland, Finland, Austria, Australia, Malaysia and few others.

In 2000 he was invited to perform a Beethoven Concerto in the most renowned Polish concert hall, The National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw. He also represented Poland at the international music festival in Vienna (2000). He was also invited to perform during the European Piano Forum in Berlin (2001) and The International Piano Campus in Paris (2002).

In 2002 he received further invitations to perform Chopin recitals in Kuala Lumpur, New York and Beijing. Same year he appeared in Australia playing numerous concerts in venues across Sydney. In November 2002 he performed at the prestigious concert ‘Young Piano Stars of Sydney’ after which he was invited to take part in 2005 concert ‘Young Piano Talents of Sydney’.

In 2003 he played a special Chopin recital to a full house at The Polish Embassy Hall in Canberra and after a long, standing ovation he was invited to return to Canberra a year later. After short but highly successful concert tour in Poland in 2003 he was invited to perform Chopin recitals in Russia and Japan again. In August 2005 he performed a special Chopin recital at The Polish Consulate in Sydney and was received enthusiastically with standing ovation and many further invitations. In 2006, playing Chopin once again, he debuted in Canada, after which he was invited to give a Chopin recital in the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Theater in Vancouver.

Krzysztof Malek has made recordings for Polish Television and has also played the main role of Frederic in a movie about Chopin. In recognition to his achievements he was awarded the most prestigious prize-scholarship by The Polish Ministry of Culture.

His nearest concert schedule covers extensive appearances on four continents, including a debut with an orchestra in China, playing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto, a Chopin recital in Canada and concerts in Europe and Australia.
