Ms Michelle Coleman The Australian Jewish News
Dear Ms Coleman Jewish people were gravely disturbed by the American Neo-Nazis having invoked the principle of freedom of speech in justification of the alleged praising Adolf Hitler during their march in Washington, DC on 19 April 2008. Polish people felt insulted by Naomi Levin who used the principle of freedom of speech in justification of misrepresenting on character of the Nazi Germany’s concentration camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau (“AJN” 25 April 2008). Her attitude looks like playing in hands of revisionists who would feel happy to see their wartime victims quarreling among themselves again and again.
I would like to offer a conciliatory gesture now, on the eve of Pope Benedict XVI's coming to Sydney. For sure, he would prefer not to hear about unfounded allegations and innuendo against other minority being spread by Jewish media. Similarly, excellent diplomatic relations between Poland and Israel leave no doubt for a need to cooperate to a mutual benefit. Kate Rosenberg of Melbourne went to work as an intern at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków, in a pursuit to learn more about her Polish heritage. Where is a Sydneysider with a courage to defy the shameful anti-Polish stereotyping?
Yours sincerely Waldemar Niemotko
