Tickets: Entry by donation to the Centre of Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. On Saturday 14 June, a Gala Benefit Concert will be held at St Andrews Cathedral to raise funds for cancer services at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
The evening is organized by Barbara Id¼kowska-Curtin, soprano, wife of late international opera singer Richard Curtin, bass, in tribute to Luciano Pavarotti, tenor,
with whom Richard many times sang. This concert was planned by Richard and Barbara before Richard was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer in 2006.
In Richard's memory and celebration of their opera life Barbara will be singing sacred and opera arias from Don Carlos, Un ballo in maschiera, Tosca, La forza del destino,
Il trovatore etc.; works by Mercadante, Puccini, Rossini, Catalani, Verdi, etc. Barbara will be accompanied by pianist Christopher Cartner. The Patron for this evening is the
Consulate General of Italy in Sydney.
Funds raised through donation at the door will benefit the Centre of Children’s Cancers and Blood Disorders at Sydney Children’s Hospital – a cause close to Barbara’s heart.
