| Lajkonik is a group where everyone is expected to work very hard, but of course we wouldn't do what we do, unless we enjoyed it! According to our President Bozena Pagin, we have done 38 performances this year, and still 2 more to go this weekend! We danced at the Canberra Multicultural Festival, the Mound and Mt Kosciuszko Festival, the Polish Festival of Religious Songs in Canberra, at events associated with World Youth Day, and our Senior Group opened the Gala Concert in Rzeszow with Dances from Rzeszow! There were numerous performances for the Polish Community in Cabramatta, Liverpool, Ashfield, Smithfield, Marayong and Plumpton!
Sadly, we had one disappointment because we didn't get to go to the Polish Festival in Melbourne mainly because we ran out of funds, and there was no point in asking Fundusz Wieczysty for assistance because they have knocked us back on our last 3 applications. Why? Only Mr Stan Mikolajski and Mrs Krajewski can answer that. Fundusz Wieczysty supports Kujawy and Syrenka, why not Lajkonik??
Anyway, we have already started to prepare our Programme for Polart 2009 and all past members are invited to come back and help us to expand our pair numbers and repertoire. Thanks most sincerely to Blum Foundation for helping us to fund a bus for our Polart Trip! Its all happening.

I want to take this opportunity to wish all the dancers in Lajkonik and their parents and extended families, a Happy and Peaceful Christmas, and a New Year full of good health, fun times, and shared success in all that we do together as an Ensemble. Thanks to both the previous Committee and to the new Committee which was elected at our AGM in September. Thank you for all your hard work, support, passion and loyalty.
