Contemporary Fable "Sztuczki" screened in Australia
Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane

The Embassy of Poland in Australia introducing a Polish film "Tricks" (Sztuczki). This unique contemporary fable focuses on a spirited child trying to make sense of encroaching adulthood. Six-year-old Stefek challenges fate. He believes that the chain of events he sets in motion will help him get closer to the father who abandoned his mother. His sister Elka, 17, helps him learn how to "bribe" fate with small sacrifices. Tricks and coincidences eventually bring the father to the mother’s doorstep but things go wrong. Desperate, Stefek tries his luck with the riskiest of tricks.

Jakimowski’s first feature “Squint Your Eyes” (“Zmruż oczy”), screened during the Multicultural Festival in Canberra in 2007, won numerous awards at Festivals, including San Francisco, Sochi and Gdynia, as well as collecting four Golden Eagles, Poland´s top film awards.
