Throughout 2008, the Polish Foundation in NSW has worked hard to improve Bielany and turn it into an adequate camping ground for the Polish community.
Working within the guidelines of the Hawkesbury City Council, Bielany is now a suitable site for camping for the Polish community to access all year round.
With the help of builders and volunteers, the Polish Foundation in NSW has been able to make vast improvements to Bielany.
The kitchen area in the hall has been completely renovated, with new stainless steel bench tops and appliances, along with a fresh coat of paint and wall tiling. Through donations, Bielany now has five fridges for guests to utilise, as well as crockery, cutlery and other cooking utensils. In addition to the new kitchen, two new barbeques have been built, one on the bottom level and one on the middle level for families and groups.
The two bedrooms in the hall now have new floors, with the walls also painted. The two rooms sleep a total of 10 people and are available for rent to all guests. Without the donation of beds, mattresses and linen this would not be possible.
Disabled railings have been placed in the bathrooms in the hall and all the bathrooms on the campsite are better equipped with soap and paper towel dispensers.
More plans are in the making for 2009, which will hopefully see the hall transform into an entertainment area for guests in the hope that Bielany will now not only be used in the summer months but all year round.
The Polish Foundation in NSW Inc encourages everyone to visit Bielany and see the improvements.
Bielany Fest is also fast approaching and will be held on Sunday March 1 2009, more details are up on the Puls Polonii website (click here).
