The Winners of the 2009 Strzelecki Graphic Competition
Announced April 18, 2009
The Winners of the 2009 Strzelecki Graphic Competition, announced at 1:30pm on Saturday April 18, 2009, in Jindabyne, are:

In the adult category:

1. The Grand Prize (of $1000, funded by Consul-General Ryszard Sarkowicz) is awarded to Krystyna Burkiewicz for ‘Kosciuszko Spirit over Australian Mountains’ acrylic on canvas
2. Second prize ($700, funded by Kosciuszko National Park) is awarded to Natalia Krysiak for ‘Twilight Dreams’ (acrylic on canvas)
3. Third prize (the American Friends of Kosciuszko Prize, of $600) is awarded to Adam Fiala for a cartoon series about ‘The Discovery of a Mountain Called Kosciuszko’ (pen on paper)
4. The Puls Polonii prize (of $500) is awarded to Sebastian Sawicki for his triptych ‘Adyna – Kosciuszko – Our Ascent’
5. A Special Commendation (of $300, funded by the Polish Community of Western Australia) is awarded to Piotr Słowiański for ‘Strzelecki’
6. A Commendation (of $200, funded by Cooma Council) is awarded to Marta Karpiński for ‘Flower for Adyna’

In the youth category:

1. North Ryde Polish Saturday School is awarded $500 for a puzzle-collage, a work created through team effort
2. The Emerging Talent prize (of $200) is awarded to Joanna Samołówka for ‘A Guide Pointing the Way’
3. Special Prizes (of $100) are also awarded to:
- Sebastian Nawara for his collage about Strzelecki
- Szymon Gajda for his portraits of Strzelecki and an Aboriginal
- Robert Rus for ‘A Flower for Adyna’
- Olgierd Jaskulski for his drawing ‘Australian Mountains Speak About Strzelecki’
- Maria Roszak for her mixed-media work ‘Strzelecki and His Team on the Way to the Summit’
- Adam Pacek for his ‘Reserves of Food in the Bush’
