Ks Jacek Cichy celebrates his 50th Birthday
Text & Photo Henry Iglinski

Ks Jacek Cichy celebrated his 50th birthday at a surprise party at the Smithfield Parish Hall on Sunday 23-8-2009. Over 100 guests attended the party which was organised by his friends in Sydney. Ks Jacek flew in from his Parish in Queensland not knowing that the darkened Smithfield Parish Hall was about to burst into celebration. Eight priests and one nun attended the celebration.

The attending priests (left to right in picture) were Ks Michael (Parish Priest of Smithfield), Ks Oskar, Ks Albert (Provincial of the Pauline Order), Ks Adam, Ks Jacek, Ks Antoni (Marayong), Ks Ed, Ks Marek.

Also present was Sister Terriseta (see collage) who taught Ks Cichy English when he first arrived in Australia. Ks Adam Ostapowicz who is on holiday from Germany was ordained on the same day with Ks Jacek.

The party was entertained by Podhale Folklore Ensemble, Krzysztof Malek and Polhop. These performers had a few hours earlier in the afternoon entertained at the Podhale Dinner at Cabramatta.

The photo collage shows Ks Jacek Cichy with some of his guests and the performers.
