Our Second Obiad “Kolorowe Jarmarki”

On Sunday 23rd August, the Polish Folklore Ensemble "Podhale" held its second luncheon at its home base, the White Eagle Hall in Cabramatta. The Hall was beautifully decorated to the theme of a colourful fete or in Polish ‘Kolorowe Jarmarki’. The Middle Group opened the artistic program with Tance Kaszubskie and was followed by the Ensemble’s newest and youngest members who delighted the audience for the first time ever, in an adorable Penguin Dance ‘Pingwinek’.

The Middle Group returned to the stage and also for the first time ever, presented an enchanting Warszawska Poleczka in brand new Poleczka costumes.

The Senior Group presented Tance Krosnienskie and Tance Cieszynskie, showcasing energy, elegance and poise. Tance Krosnienskie included dynamic polkas, waltzes and the popular Jacok. Tance Cieszynskie were performed in traditional Cieszyn costumes, which were recently purchased from Poland.

We were also honoured with special guest performances by Pol-Hop (Alicja, Jessica & Angelica) as well as the wonderfully talented Virtuoso Pan Krzysztof Malek who played a soul stirring recital of Chopin’s Polonaise Opus 53.

Parents and audience members also participated in a fun dance ‘Tanczymy Labado’.

Polish Folklore Ensemble Podhale was formed in January this year. The first rehearsal for the senior group was held on Friday 30 January 2009 and a short 3 months later, the Middle Group commenced rehearsals on Thursday 30th April. Recently we have commenced lessons with a Junior Group, also on Thursday nights. Currently, the Ensemble has 29 performing members.

We’d like to thank everyone who attended and supported our function, including our Polish Priests; Ks Szeptak & Ks Kolodziej, President Pani Krystyna Cyron and the Cabramatta Polish Association, as well as the wonderful Polish and non-Polish community members.

We are humbled and extremely grateful for all the donations we have received to-date, the kindness shown to us, the time devoted to us by all, and for the wonderful words of support – a very big thank you.

A very sincere thank you, also goes out to all the Podhale members and their parents who work together so wonderfully to make our events so enjoyable and memorable.

Our next fundraiser is a Trivia Night scheduled for Saturday, 12th September and I would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite everyone to come along and once again join us for a night of fun and mind bending moments, great prizes and lots of surprises!
