Everyone talks about the weather
Henry Iglinski

Last week was a week to remember for the Polish Association Cabramatta.

The participants in three activities, held last week by the Association and its affiliates, had a lot to say about the weather.

On Wednesday, September 23, a dust storm hit Sydney and extended the night into mid-morning. Many seniors did not make the Bingo and luncheon on that day. In fact, the kitchen made a loss: probably the first time in its long history of service to the seniors. And, of course, those who made it to Bingo talked about the weather and the dust cleanup to follow.

On Saturday, September 26, the seniors left for a weekend in Canberra to attend the Floriade Festival in the capital. They knew about the snow that had fallen in the mountains, but they did not expect snow in Goulburn later that day. Canberra was cold, windy and rainy. The Floriade had first been hit by dust, then by cold, windy and rainy conditions. But it has been reported, and we have a picture to prove it, that the flowers did not succumb to the weather, but welcomed the seniors. It is true that the seniors had a long sing-along on the bus trip, but this was exceeded by the singing on Saturday night at their accommodation at the John Paul II Catholic Centre at Narrabundah, Canberra. The seniors returning on Sunday evening, September 27, were well rugged up and were talking about their great weekend … and of course, the weather.

On Sunday, September 27, Podhale Folklore Ensemble had its Picnic and Photo Day at Western Sydney Regional Park. Again, the weather intervened. Strong, cold winds competed with a strong sun. Podhale braved the conditions, enjoyed a nice picnic and took photos while the hats and skirts of costumes danced in the wind. Needless to say, the weather was on everyone’s mind (and bodies).

We wonder what the weather will be like next week.
